Pull up benefits and why it's the best calisthenics movement
By the tee-rex
One arm pull-ups are a real test of grip strength , its one thing to be able to pull up on two hands and its a completely different thing to even hold a dead hang position from a pull-up bar with ONE ARM.
-You are destined for greatness; be the beast you are meant to be! Get your first pull up bar starting from $14. Click here to get it in on Amazon -
Away from one armed pull ups now ; another reason why you should incorporate them into your routine is , pull ups( if you keep at it for a long time) make you so comfortable on a bar that you literally do anything from a dead hang with nothing but your arms and of course the bar to support you. In a nutshell,if you keep doing pull ups overtime , every horizontal bar becomes your playground... you just fall in love with bars!
The pic below is so savage I can't even imagine what those hands are capable of when there's a pull-up bar or a horizontal bar around...SICK!!!
Sometimes I look back and remember those days, I hated pull ups so much because it seemed to be the only basic exercise I wasn't getting stronger at .
I was only able to complete 1 rep in a set ; come to think of it now, that one rep wasn't even up to rep standards because my chin didn't scale the bar (at least I was able to lift myself up far enough to realize I was a chicken 🐓 and fall right back down).
But that was years ago,the only reason I'm telling you this is because I know there's someone out there , probably even reading this post, and you feel so horrible and depressed because you can't even manage ONE push-up , I can tell you that its completely normal!
Contrary to the meme in my last post ,no one's first words are and probably never will be '...pull ups' and I don't think anyone out there has the TALENT to pull up .
Its something you invest your time and dedication in if you really want to notice results, from my experience , being able to do pull ups properly is a beautiful thing and its one of the things I'm most proud of and that pride comes from the fact that I can complete 20+ pull ups in a minute from 1 pull up in 4-5 minutes and it didn't happen overnight.
It took me a while to actually get the hang of pull ups ,so I believe if I can do it ,you can do it too. It'll just take some time and believe me some days you'll feel like giving up ,you'll feel like your life would be better if you didn't have to grow stronger ; but don't be discouraged , almost every lifter faces or has passed throuth the same at one point in their fitness journey, its facing and overcoming it that really earns you the title of 'BEAST'.
So keep working and grinding for what you believe in and one day you'll smile over how much progress you've made.

'The pull-up is a bodyweight movement which incorporates a lot of muscles ,mostly the back muscles and the biceps branchii'
You're probably wondering '...another post on pull-ups ' , i can't over emphasize the importance of this exercise. If you're not already doing pull- ups then start working on getting your first pull up bar ,but If you think its an over-hyped exercise thats why you won't do it, then you're wrong .
Obviously its a bodyweight movement which points to the fact that you don't necessarily need a gym membership or fancy equipment to reach your fitness goals; but pull up supremacy goes beyond all that. Let's agree that pull ups build a wide back ,when I say wide I mean wide cobra looking upper back (it's my No.1 exercise for upper back width along with deadlifts , my No.1 movement for upper back thickness). Although I just listed one reason why it( pull-ups) should be a part of your workout routine... its supremacy is still beyond just building a wide back and the biceps muscles. Keep scrolling...☺
Pull ups are undoubtedly one of the best back exercises, to be honest , if you ask me the only exercise that I'd prefer to pull ups are DEADLIFTS ( the only reason I like dead lifts is because of Eddie Hall ).
Pull ups should be incorporated into your training not just because its second only to DEADLIFTS , but because it builds an insane amount of grip strength. I mean does it get any cooler than one armed pull ups? Obviously not, the one armed pull up is the dopest movement in the world right now and you can't tame it until you master the standard pull ups. |
