Workout Motivation Tips: How To Motivate Yourself
By the Tee Rex
Hello there! I've been thinking a lot lately about how and why most people give up on their bodybuilding dreams and believe me, I've given it a very long thought (while adapting real life stories) and come to the conclusion that most people give up fitness because of motivation.
It's a common belief (...or rather, mentality) out there that those very ripped, jacked and bulky bodybuilders and fitness models we see on the television, while on social media pages; didn't have to work so hard to achieve their dream bodies! Some people go as far as nurturing thoughts of having the worst genes ever...HOLD UP JUST ONE SEC!
Before you totally condemn yourself (and your genetics), true, some of these guys have the best genetics but at the end is that all bodybuilding comes down to?
" If it was easy, everyone would do it... "this, πππ this is why you have to achieve those goals in the first place...to set yourself aside from the rest other billions who think bodybuilding is nothing but a waste of time.
Don't jump into conclusions yet; you might just be experiencing a completely normal and temporary form of bodybuilding plateaus
It's exactly what those "...aesthetic fitness models on instagram" applied to their everyday lives and see where it got them.! You're no less human than they are! Now let that sink in for a couple seconds...
Back to the post; you are a beautifully and wonderfully made being. Truth is, even these fitness models have bad days (even with all their awesome genetics) but they deal with it because at the end giving up doesn't make you fitter or more aesthetic does it? It's just the coward's way out.
Sometimes when I see guys like Eddie or Strebl , I get depressed (you don't want to get me started on this guy...). But then I remind myself how hard these guys have worked, regardless of genetics, to achieve their bodies and like magic π, what was once depression suddenly turns into motivation.
Somehow this has worked wonders for me in the past years and still continues to work for me (I still get bad days, lol).
I'm not asking you to incorporate my own method into your lifestyle because it might not work for you and then you'll feel like the greatest failure ever... Try create an anchor, try remembering why you started ;
πWhat made you want to become a better version of yourself?
π What inspired you to start lifting? Does giving up really make things better?
π Will you achieve your dream physique by giving up and eating peanut butter the rest of your life?
These are questions you need to ask yourself, hoping you don't get a bad day or telling yourself bad days are for chickens won't help...you'll just succeed in feeling like crazy when you're low on motivation and then what?
The more reason why you constantly need to find ways to motivate yourself to keep pushing!
Peradventure the tips mentioned above don't work, you can always try out something new as long as achieving your fitness goals is the desired end...
1) Music
Music can help elevate your mood, How often do you find yourself to be feeling sad or angry, then you throw on some music, and all of a sudden it’s fine? It works the same with bodybuilding...lets say you have a playlist you listen to every time you workout and it inspires you, why not use it for that same purpose when you aren't feeling so inspired...?
My favorite workout song is Imagine Dragons - Warriors and you can get it on itunes π!
2) Put on your workout clothes
I remember there was this shirt I used to wear whenever I was going to the gym, it started to get kinda tight and usually this made me feel like I was a big badass, lol. Clothes no matter how irrelevant you think they might be, might have a role to play in motivating you. For example, you bought this big oversize shirt and lately you started to notice it's starting to fit...!
Browse this awesome list of tank tops: for ladies and for men.
3) Indulge in group fitness
Humans are naturally and highly competitive, look at it this way; you joined a group and everyone on the group is bent on losing weight and shows up everyday for their workouts...at some point they infect you with their energy and all you can think of is not getting left lagging behind while the rest of the group flaunts their toned bodies in the summer π
4) Get a personal trainer /mentor
Hiring someone to be accountable for your successes/failures is another great way to ensure you don't give up in your journey to become fit. Trainers do more than just train and prevent clients from injuries, they literally have to make sure you achieve whatever goals you set so far as you're subscribed to them, this ranges from offering their professional insights to motivating the client.
I offer personal training services and workout programs online. Just send an email to help.teerex@gmail.com and I'll get back to you πππ

5) Try pre-workout supplements
Sometimes will-power just won't cut it. In a recent research, it was discovered that while will-power can be a great driving force, it's only finite!
This means that one day you're just gonna snap and say... 'to hell with this! I'm tired of trying' . Now we don't want that, this is where pre workout comes in: they're edible and don't take a lot of time to prepare.
Plus you don't need to condition your brain to push past that last excruciating rep; science takes care of that...you literally feel like you're being powered by jet fuel π!
