Health Benefits of boxing (boxing workouts)

Pictures of Mohammed Ali during a boxing match
One of the oldest names and hall of famer...in the days when the name "Ali" struck fear into the minds of men!
Boxing is a combat sport in which two people, usually wearing protective gloves , throw punches at each other for a predetermined set of time in a boxing ring .

Boxing has been labeled to be one of the oldest sports (putting into consideration the fact that we humans have been engaged in fist fights since we understood how to defend and attack each other...if not before).

This sport dates back to the 3rd millennium BCE with reliefs from Iraq (middle East) with later depictions
from the 2nd millennium BC found in reliefs from the
Mesopotamian nations of Assyria and Babylonia , and in Hittite art from Asia Minor. A relief sculpture from
Egyptian Thebes (c. 1350 BCE) shows both boxers and spectators. The earliest evidence for fist fighting with any kind of gloves can be found on Minoan Crete (c. 1500–1400
BCE).

Hey! This isn't history class is it! Sorry to bore you with all that ancestry 😂😂. Still if you feel like knowing more about boxing, the rules involved, basic moves, hall of fame and the like, then you can indulge yourself in this post from Wikipedia.

Now back to the topic of this particular post...wait I smell a troll 👃! Now I know taking punches to the head can have a lot of bad side effects on the human body and believe me, this post isn't to push or motivate you to become a professional boxer like Danny Garcia who has a premier boxing champions match against Shawn Porter at the Barclays Center in New York on the 8th of september (you don't wanna miss this)

Rather I'm more interested in the health  benefits of training to be/like a boxer (boxing workouts)

See! No one has to suffer permanent brain damage years after reading this post but someone can improve his/her overall speed, strength, conditioning, stamina, endurance; to mention a few. So let's dive in!

Yeah I know he looks hot, but that not the point! Just trying to prove hand-eye coordination.
1) Faster and crazier reflexes:
Ever heard of hand-eye coordination? Yeah I thought as much! I only learned about it when I was doing the research for this post and all things related. People with good hand-eye coordination tend to have faster reflexes and overall body coordination (we all find out how important body coordination is with time when we grow older and believe me it's a good feat).

Boxing can help hone hand-eye coordination (which in turn improves your reflexes). When you’re
tasked with punching a speed bag (a lightweight boxing bag suspended from a disc that turns and bounces quickly with each punch), or you’re paired up to spar with a partner (practice punching your partner’s padded mitts), you must be able to see the target, react to the target, and hit the target, all while the target is moving and changing position. It’s
tough, but with practice, your hand-eye coordination improves substantially. Now you see why you can never catch your cousin off guard with any of those your slow "surprise" moves.

2)Better Heart or Cardiovascular health:
It's obvious jumping around, trying to stay balanced, trying to hit a moving target, trying not to be hit (not professionally) are all forms of cardio. I know you're gonna say "But I already engage in other forms of cardiovascular exercises like running and the like". We all know after a while our bodies adapt to things and we even get super bored while doing them. FACT!!!

How about adding some spice to your cardio, hire a trainer or even register at the boxing gym closest to you and master the art of body composition! I choose the latter because it has bigger words 😂. Who knows with a better cardiovascular health you could further prevent heart diseases.

I love this pic so much I have to show you guys!

3)
Boxing promotes fat loss:
Kinda like a spin-off from the "cardio" benefit (this will probably be the most loved health benefit), boxing or training to box can help to burn stubborn fat overtime because it's naturally very tasking. Just like the instance I gave in the first benefit where one has to punch a speed bag or where one is tasked with hopping from one spot to the other to dodge hits or even find an opening.

All these put together will consume a lot of calories and what better way to burn fat than to burn more calories than you ingest daily? So if you're looking to tweak your fat loss program (which already follows a nutrition meal plan...)  a bit, then I'd suggest try your hand at boxing (doesn't have to be professional, again!).

Believe it or not, a swollen eye isn't that bad 😂😂😂

4) Insane amount of muscle and strength gain around the core:
If you're reading this post then I bet you've probably seen a boxing inspired Hollywood movie or a boxing live events you'd notice most of them boys are ripped to the bone! Especially their latissimus muscles, so wide they blot out the sun!

Another muscle group they pay a lot of attention to is their ab muscles. The major reason for this is the fact that points to the head count and most boxers keep their hands up to prevent hits to the head; now their stomach area is the only exposed part and that makes them vulnerable, so they build a lot of strength in the abs so they can take punches while keeping their hands up. How cool is that? Talk about abs of steel!

And besides, who wouldn't add a massive amount of strength and muscle when he gets to punch 100 pound bags around?

There are a lot of of other health benefits why one should incorporate boxing workouts into a programme, I just listed a few. As always I provide the best content...👏👏👏...thank you! Thank you!! So I thought I should get you started on your first boxing workout gear.
